- Origins in 1916 at Tokyo Ishikawajima Shipbuilding and Engineering. Incorporation dates differ: English Wikipedia infobox gives 30 March 1934; Japanese Wikipedia gives 9 April 1937 (as Tokyo Automobile Industries). The Isuzu name was adopted in 1949.
